About The Position

Spenard Builders Supply is Alaska's choice for building materials and home improvements. Statewide, we service the needs of a variety of customers including residential and commercial builders, specialty contractors, government and other institutions, and especially do-it-yourselfers. Today, Spenard Builders Supply is owned by Builders FirstSource, the largest supplier of building products, prefabricated components, and value-added services to the residential construction market in the U.S. We provide customers an integrated homebuilding solution, offering manufacturing, supply, delivery and installation for a full range of structural and related building products. This role is responsible for driving delivery vehicles and/or operating truck-trailer combinations to transport and deliver materials to customer sites. The driver may load or assist with loading and appropriately securing product, materials, or supplies inside the delivery vehicle. The driver delivers customer orders to specified delivery sites, maneuvers vehicles into loading or unloading positions, and ensures that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. The driver assists customers with unloading materials safely and accurately, and takes all precautions to protect the product and the customer’s property. The driver verifies order details and maintains logs of delivery duties including amounts and/or weights of items, mileage and locations of deliveries. The driver checks items against invoice to ensure order accuracy. The driver acts as a customer service liaison between the company and the site customer, handles customer concerns and helps resolve issues as they arise. The driver maintains the cleanliness and appearance of delivery vehicles and performs routine safety checks to ensure vehicles comply with company guidelines. The driver is required to use hand held devices, except for while driving, to ensure compliance with DVIR and HOS. The driver will maintain hours of service logs and pre/post trip inspection procedures. The driver may perform credit/product return pick-ups and related paperwork. The driver will operate a Forklift or non-motorized material handling equipment to load and off load materials to designated areas. The driver understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; and may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 21+ years old
  • A minimum of 1 year of delivery driving experience.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Class A CDL license
  • Pass MVR report
  • Obtain a DOT medical card within five (5) days of a request
  • Have less than 5 moving violations in the last 5 years

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of CDL driving experience are strongly preferred.
