About The Position

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking customer-oriented, motivated individuals to join their professional team as a Class 5 Driver. This role involves delivering and picking up climate control equipment to and from construction sites and customer locations. The ideal candidate will be safety-minded, reliable, and possess a strong work ethic. This is a stable, year-round employment opportunity with continuous training and development.

Requirements

  • Currently residing in Canada and legally entitled to work.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points).
  • Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
  • Comfortable with city driving.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
  • Available and willing to work overtime when required, particularly during peak seasonal demand (winter months).
  • Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of construction equipment, or other types of heavy loads is an asset.
  • Prior commercial driving experience is an asset.
  • Previous LPG/propane experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience driving heavy trucks and/or pulling trailers is an asset (for example Class G/5 Roll-Off trucks, flat decks, or heavy-duty pick-up trucks).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and pick up climate control equipment to and from construction sites and customer locations.
  • Safely load and unload climate control equipment such as temporary construction heaters and related accessories; secure loads per company procedure and inspect in transit when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and routine checks of fuel, oil, and fluid levels to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
  • Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
  • Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
  • Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
  • Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
  • If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get the customer’s signature. Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets. Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
  • Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe set-up and operation of climate control equipment if necessary.
  • Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.
  • Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.
