The Class 5 Delivery Driver (Driver In Training) will work with the Transportation Lead Trainer to learn all aspects and responsibilities of the role, including, but not limited to customer service, pre / post trip, safety and company policies, procedures and practices. In addition, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience to become a Class 1 Local Delivery Driver. The selected candidate will be expected to obtain their Learners class 1 license after 3 months of service in this position.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 license or higher with a clean driver’s abstract is required
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds frequently
- Must be willing to obtain Class 1 Learners and Air Brakes Certification
- Eligibility for bonding based on the results of a criminal record check
- Strong customer service skills
- High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic
- Professional demeanour under stressful situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision; must be self-directed
- Availability on weekends and holidays
Nice To Haves
- Obtain their Learners class 1 license after 3 months of service in this position
Responsibilities
- Learn the correct offloading of product from the vehicle
- Recording of delivery information
- Accepting payment (no cash) for goods when required
- Ensuring overall vehicle safety
- Operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times
- Obeying all rules of the road
- Follow all appropriate company policies and procedures
