About The Position

Birch Mountain Enterprises is seeking experienced Class 3 Operators for a position at the Imperial Oil site (Kearl). This role involves the safe operation of various Class 3 units. Operators should be mechanically inclined, physically fit for all weather conditions, and possess knowledge of TDG. Preference will be given to candidates with previous industrial sector experience. The position offers a 14 on, 14 off work schedule with camp and flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating up to 18-speed manual transmission Class 1 or 3 equipment.
  • Previous or related experience operating Combo Vac units.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification.
  • Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
  • Certification in Daily Trip Inspections.
  • Certification in Provincial Hours of Service for Alberta.
  • Certification in Weights and Dimensions.
  • Certification in Cargo Securement for flatbeds.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • H2S Alive certification.
  • Must successfully pass BME driver’s evaluation.
  • Must successfully pass Drug and Alcohol pre-employment screening.
  • Must successfully pass fit for duty pre-employment screening.

Nice To Haves

  • TDG knowledgeable.
  • Previous Combo Vac experience.
  • Mine drive experience is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that possess previous experience in the industrial sector.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates based on equal qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Combo Vac units.
  • Physically able to perform tasks and work in all weather conditions.
  • Complete daily documentation, including logbooks, customer work orders, field-level risk assessments, and pre/post-trip inspections.
  • Follow instructions for tasks assigned by Dispatch or Supervisor.
  • Complete daily housekeeping of the assigned truck.
  • Attend daily toolbox and safety meetings and adhere to corporate and site safety regulations.
  • Maintain and operate all BME tools and equipment to required standards.
  • Ensure all training is kept current.
  • Follow all TDG and WHMIS standards and regulations.
  • Seek out continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide customer-focused services in all activities.
