About The Position

TruGreen Metal is a mobile scrap metal recycling company that brings the recycling facility to the customer. Since 2015, TruGreen has served over 11,000 customers across Saskatchewan, Alberta, Western Manitoba and Northern BC, recycling over 950 million pounds of steel products. This full-time Class 1 Professional Truck Driver position is based in Olds, Alberta. The role involves driving and delivering loads of scrap metal to steel mills, providing an opportunity to learn crew operations and potentially train for senior roles such as Skid Steer Operator and Excavator Operator/Crew Lead.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Class 1 A driving experience with a manual transmission is required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties.
  • Physical fitness is required with the ability to lift 50lbs or more, climb ladders, walk long distances, frequent bending and picking up objects off the ground etc.
  • High degree of respect for equipment and safe work practices.
  • Take pride and accountability in your work.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Excellent communicator who works best in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Use problem solving skills while using good judgement.
  • Have and maintain a valid Class 1 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Successfully complete a background check.
  • Work extended hours and travel to various work sites with overnight stays away from home on a 5 on, 3 off schedule (4 nights on the road and 4 nights at home).
  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.
  • All positions require background screening.
  • Field positions require a clean driver’s abstract, criminal record check, and drug and alcohol testing to comply with regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Skid steer and excavator experience is considered an asset.
  • Off road experience is considered an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Navigating to and from different job sites.
  • Assisting in the loading and scrap removal process which includes manual labour on the worksite.
  • Delivering loads of scrap metal to steel mills.
  • Assisting in servicing and securing equipment.
