How you’ll contribute The Class 1 Driver is all about helping our customers safely get the equipment they need to get the job done right. Whether dropping off or picking up product, it’s important to really listen, respond quickly, and show you care. We want every customer to have a good experience so we do our best to understand what they need and make sure they feel looked after. Responsibilities include: Transport and deliver heavy/medium equipment, general tool, merchandise, heaters, propane bottles, and other items safely and in accordance with all Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Laws. Operate a wide array of construction equipment using flatbed tractor trailers that average 75' in length and responsible for a load capacity of 60,000 lbs to 100,000 lbs. Provide the highest level of service to customers and explaining equipment operation where needed. Ensure proper rigging and strapping of equipment to ensure safe transportation. Load and unloaded in a safe manner within the time parameters given by the customer. Assist customers in handling large items. Immediately advise manager of all customer complaints. Ensure equipment being picked up is not damaged. If damaged, immediately report to the manager. Ensure every customer is treated in a fair and consistent manner. Remain professional both in conduct and appearance. Follow all paperwork related to the delivery and pick-up of products for customers. Maintain all inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management computer system. Operate vehicle safely following and follow all relevant legislation. Complete daily truck inspection at the start of the day and keep it on file. Complete all reports related to vehicle usage such as run sheets, inspection reports and maintenance. Fill the vehicle up with fuel at the end of every day. Report any damage or maintenance that has to be done on the vehicle to the manager. Check in with manager for duties and/or activities that need to be completed when not on delivery or pick-up, which could include pre-loading, equipment checks, maintenance to vehicle, etc. Responsible for regularly maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle, store, and areas outside the store. Adhere to all Provincial and Company safety standards and to any customer safety standards when on-site. Health and Safety will always be the number one priority at Stephenson’s so every employee has the shared responsibility of keeping themselves and all others safe by following the Safety Commitments, PPE requirements and all SOPs and Policies as laid out by Stephenson’s and governing laws. Every Stephenson’s employee has a duty to report any unsafe working conditions and ensuring that they and their co-workers at all levels of work are wearing their PPE and following our SOPs and policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year driving and delivery experience.
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with clean abstract.
  • Flexibility; ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Manual lifting and loading of equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Bona fide job requirement that you wear the following PPE safely and as per regulations: Hard hat Steel toed boots High Vis vest or uniform Safety glasses

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a Reach forklift is preferred but not required.
