About The Position

This position is based in Prince George, BC. Van-Kam Freightways is looking for a Class 1 Driver with significant driving experience. Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. is a major regional carrier in Western Canada, specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, they handle shipments within BC and Alberta in 1-3 days. Their coverage extends to the U.S. and Eastern Canada through their own resources and partner network.

Requirements

Valid Class 1 Drivers License is required
Flat Deck Experience is required
Minimum 5 years of Northern winter driving experience is required.
Ability to drive at night is required
Northern Mine heavy hauling experience is required
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
Must be able to handle with adverse weather conditions and chain up fully as weather indicates.

Nice To Haves

Newer model heavy spec'd highway truck is preferred

Responsibilities

Conducting pre-trip and post trip inspections.
When necessary, assist with loading/unloading trailer.
Reporting any issues promptly.
Complying with all regulations regarding transportation and hours of service.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries.
Communicate effectively with Dispatch team members and provide outstanding customer service.
Must comply with all transportation and safety regulation as required.
Uphold security standards at all times.
