About The Position

Music & Arts is seeking a clarinet teacher to teach private music lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels. The teacher will create an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment; communicate regularly with students and parents about goals and progress; and partner with store teams on lesson scheduling and student retention. Music & Arts handles administrative work so instructors can focus on teaching and inspiring students. The role is part-time and located in Monroe, New York. Pay is $16 per hour for non-teaching time and $10.50–$21 per hour for teaching time, depending on background and experience. Musicians may be eligible for gig leave to take time off to perform and return to work afterward.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or Music Performance, or equivalent experience.
Two years of music teaching experience, especially with clarinet.

Nice To Haves

Further teaching experience with saxophone or related instruments.
Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in Music.
Professional teaching memberships or certifications.
Eight or more years of teaching experience, especially with multiple instruments, including banjo, baritone, bass clarinet, bass guitar, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, French horn, guitar, mandolin, oboe, percussion, piano, piccolo, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, and voice.
