About The Position

The Clamp Truck Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the corrugator by supplying it with paper material using a clamp truck. This role also involves assisting the corrugator team to maximize setup and operation, maintaining a clean work area, managing inventory, and performing preventative maintenance tasks. The operator must comply with all plant and OSHA safety rules to ensure the production of a quality product.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed appropriate training programs for the operation of powered industrial trucks.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and interpret written documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, factory orders, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (English and Metric systems), using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read an English and Metric system tape measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a lift truck is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a clamp truck to supply the corrugator with paper material.
  • Assist the corrugator team as needed to maximize the set up and operation of the corrugator in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all applicable Plant and OSHA safety rules.
  • Move rolls and organize the work-in-process area.
  • Maintain a clean work area, including sweeping and trash removal.
  • Manage roll room inventory and presentation.
  • Reconcile end-of-shift consumption daily.
  • Report any incoming damaged rolls and dress rolls down when needed.
  • Complete stock take/cycle count daily.
  • Manage butt rolls.
  • Complete all tasks associated with the Preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure correct delivery of all roll stock.
  • Remove all waste from docks and corrugator at the end of the shift or as needed.
  • Provide backup to the Roll Handler as required.
  • Maintain enough paper on the floor to prevent the corrugator from going down.
  • Adjust to scheduling changes as customer needs require.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
