About The Position

As a Claims Co-op, you’ll practice investigation, evaluation, and communication skills while making real impact. Work part-time during school and full-time over breaks. At Sentry, we realize that getting valuable, hands-on experience is important for you and your career. We’re looking to recruit UW-Stevens Point for our Claims Co-op program. In this program you’ll have the opportunity to work part-time while attending classes and full-time during summers. Our co-op program is designed to provide you the opportunity to gain valuable experience while working in our Stevens Point location.

Requirements

• Pursuing an undergraduate or associate degree in Business, Insurance, Communication, and English or a related field
• Obtain a minimum GPA of 2.7
• Expected graduation date of May 2029 through December 2029
• Ability to work up to 20 hours a week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours a week during breaks
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Obtain required licensing as needed
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience

Responsibilities

• Work closely with a mentor to understand how claims are handled.
• Gain hands-on insight into claims negotiations and settlement processes to help reach fair resolutions for customers.
• Stand by customers during stressful times, guiding them through the claims process with genuine care and understanding.
• Review policy details to accurately verify coverage and policy limits for current customers.
• Dive into the details of a loss by gathering facts and reviewing documentation to understand what happened.
• Maintain clear, thorough records of all investigations, communications, and steps taken throughout the claims process.
