About The Position

We are seeking a Claims Manager to lead a team of Claims Examiners responsible for the handling, investigation, evaluation, and resolution of homeowner property and liability claims. This role provides daily leadership, technical guidance, operational oversight, and support to ensure quality claims handling, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of property and liability claims experience, including three (3) to five (5) years of direct claims handling.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Claims Examiners, ensuring compliance with claim handling guidelines, workflows, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Review, evaluate, assign, and oversee property and liability claims, providing coverage guidance, settlement authority, and direction on loss assessments, reserves, and adjustment expenses.
  • Analyze policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to assist staff in resolving complex coverage issues and making sound claim decisions.
  • Monitor claim trends, conduct file reviews, identify risks, support regulatory reporting, and implement strategies to improve claim outcomes and operational performance.
  • Refer claims to complex claim units and/or litigation when appropriate; attend mediations, settlements, and legal proceedings as required.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal teams, external business partners, and regulatory stakeholders while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.
  • Conduct training, mentoring, and ongoing development for internal staff and external business partners.
  • Oversee workload distribution, staffing, employee performance, disciplinary actions, departmental budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Respond to weather events, natural disasters, and other critical incidents, including working additional hours when business needs require.
