About The Position

Harford Mutual Insurance Group is seeking a Claims intern to support the Claims team over the summer of 2026. This position is ideal for individuals currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing career opportunities in Risk and Insurance Management or a related field. The intern will gain exposure to claims technology, data analysis, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration, while receiving training and guidance for professional development.

Requirements

• Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Risk and Insurance Management or related Business field
• Resourcefulness problem solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Support the Claims team through a variety of operational, administrative, and claims-related activities.
• Perform claims-related responsibilities including, but not limited to, taking first notices of loss, reviewing policies and claim documentation, conducting research, and assisting claims examiners and supervisors with claim reviews and other claim handling activities.
• Participate in department projects, business initiatives, and process improvement efforts designed to enhance claims operations and the customer experience.
• Gain exposure to claims technology, data analysis, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with business partners across the organization.
• Receive training and guidance to support these activities and professional development.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by a supervisor.
