About The Position

As a member of the National Commercial Auto team, the successful candidate will investigate and evaluate commercial auto claims. The position is responsible for determining coverage available to policyholders and claimants, negotiation and settlement of claims and applying policy, legislation, and company guidelines to deliver superior customer service and manage loss costs. You will also have the opportunity to cross train on other lines of business, such as Injury, Liability and Property as part of your career development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years of commercial claims experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Policy Wordings and Claims Handling procedures.
  • You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  • Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
  • You may provide support to clients who are experiencing a personal or financial loss. A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.

Nice To Haves

  • You have a University Degree/College Diploma preferred in a related field
  • Experience handing Commercial Auto (Bodily Injury, General Liability, Third Party Property Damage) is an asset.
  • You have completed or are working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses.

Responsibilities

  • Directing, adjusting and examining all varieties of conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements to determine coverage for a variety of Commercial Auto Physical Damage losses.
  • Investigating claims as assigned within authority and provide control and direction to adjusters, vendors, and solicitors to ensure adjusting standards and litigation protocols are adhered to.
  • Demonstrating extensive knowledge of insurance coverages, claims handling procedures, investigation methods, and negotiation tactics.
  • Maintaining appropriate reserving in line with corporate philosophy.
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with all internal and external contacts.
