About The Position

As a Claims Director, you will be part of a dynamic team that prides itself on having a sharp eye on detail while keeping the customer experience top of mind. The Casualty and Litigation team is responsible for ensuring efficient, prompt, and courteous service to claimants, insureds, and brokers through appropriate investigation, analysis, and settlement of claims. The Claims Director, Casualty and Litigation, will direct all activities of the claim’s unit through effective leadership and training of the adjusting staff to ensure service and quality objectives are met. The Claims Director is also responsible for supporting the development and implementation of best practices and departmental strategies in the achievement of regional goals for customer service, productivity, and quality. Our Claims Director is committed to high standards of performance, has strong communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to bring new ideas to initiatives.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education in an Insurance focused program or related program
  • Completed or working towards the CIP designation
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the property and casualty industry handling complex claims
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong technical skills with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to clearly communicate with Claimants, Brokers, and Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

  • Providing effective leadership, coaching, and motivation to team members to ensure service and quality objectives are met
  • Directing the development and execution of the corporate and regional business plans, and ensuring the department’s strategies contribute to corporate objectives
  • Ensuring effective and efficient operation by enhancing workflow and operational procedures
  • Driving a customer centric culture
  • Managing Disposition Programs (i.e., settlement conferences, mediation, internal committee file reviews, and alternate dispute resolution techniques)
  • Directing activities of defense counsel to ensure compliance with Northbridge’s litigation best practices.
  • Monitoring large and complex losses, providing coaching, input and direction to drive strategy
