Claims Data Analyst (Hybrid)
About The Position
Partner closely with the Claims leadership team and other Claims functions to develop reports, metrics, and dashboards supporting Staff Counsel and potentially broader claims organization initiatives. Build, update, and maintain a claims operations reporting suite and deliver high-impact analytical projects for Claims and Executive Leadership. Perform all duties in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Selective is a midsized U.S. domestic property and casualty insurance company. Requirements
- Knowledge of claims financial and transactional platforms and databases.
- Ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and project-prioritization skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to clearly express ideas through documentation.
- Expert proficiency in most standard business software applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to generate reports and build dashboards using Cognos analytics.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Property and Casualty industry knowledge.
- Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Cognos, or with claims management platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years of experience developing analytics and reporting and providing data-driven actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in claims reporting platforms and delivery methods, including their advanced functionality and content.
- Establish and maintain a monthly claims legal and operational reporting package that includes dashboards, scorecards, and reports using Power BI, Cognos, Microsoft Excel, and legal platforms.
- Support the Claims team with ad hoc analytical requests using management platforms such as Team Connect and Legal X, as well as claims financial and transactional platforms and databases.
- Compile and analyze audit data on law firm and litigation support vendor performance; recommend ways to reduce costs and improve financial performance, including Staff Counsel efficiencies.
- Produce and analyze descriptive metrics, identify data trends, and develop tables, charts, graphs, and executive summaries for Executive Leadership.
- Develop and document processes and techniques for extracting, cleaning, and analyzing data.
- Conduct training and develop user procedures, guidelines, and documentation; train Claims teams and new system users on processes and functionality.
- Educate end users on Claims platforms, identify opportunities to scale platforms and improve efficiencies, and analyze the impact of technology changes on business processes and existing technology.
- Collaborate and facilitate work with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Attend team meetings, roundtables, depositions, trials, and other events as needed.
