About The Position

As a Claims Counselor at West Shore Home, you will perform an integral role in the Legal Department by managing and overseeing the Company’s claims portfolio. Primary responsibilities include managing claims and litigation for automobile personal injury and property damage, commercial general liability, property damage and restoration, workers’ compensation, and supporting other corporate litigation as directed by the Assistant General Counsel or General Counsel.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • The company does not and will not sponsor employment visas.
  • 7+ years of substantive litigation and/or claims handling experience with a corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and having sole responsibility for multiple claims and priorities simultaneously in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience handling litigation before federal courts, state courts, and administrative agencies.
  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze claim activity to identify trends and emerging risk factors, and provide insights that support the Company’s risk management, compliance, and training initiatives.
  • Work closely and develop relationships with outside counsel, insurance professionals, the internal claims team, and Company employees to ensure that each claim is investigated, staffed, managed, billed, and resolved timely and in the best interest of West Shore Home.
  • Provide strategic direction on case handling, including defense strategy, budgeting, and resolution objectives.
  • Support training and compliance initiatives related to incident reporting, safety, and claims prevention.
  • Maintain efficient claim files and state law databases relevant to the Company’s national footprint.
