About The Position

This position will manage claims in New York therefore the ideal candidate will be located New York State or in the nearby metropolitan area. In this role, you will confirm coverage and then manage claims and suits brought against policyholders. You will interpret, analyze, and resolve coverage issues, select legal counsel, and manage the litigation with outside counsel. You will also manage litigation costs, both fees and expenses, post reserves for both loss and ALE, and resolve cases via settlement, dismissal or trial. Additionally, you will negotiate, provide service to insureds, assist where possible in sales and retention efforts of sales force, and perform other activities required of a front line claims person.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of claim experience, preferably healthcare liability or other professional liability claims.
J.D. (preferred), but will consider a Bachelor's degree if the candidate possesses other, pertinent industry experience.
Strong negotiating skills.
Adjuster's license (or ability to obtain within 90 days) may be required.
