About The Position

We're seeking a detail-oriented Claims Assistant to play a vital role on our team. In this position, you'll provide crucial support to our Claims Examiners by handling a variety of administrative and claims-related tasks. You'll accurately enter claim information, gather details from external sources like policy holders and medical staff, and assist in managing a caseload of auto-adjudicated claims. Your work is essential to ensuring a smooth and efficient claims process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, OR High school Diploma with 2 years of work experience, (Insurance related experience and/or Medical Bill Coding experience is preferred), OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regular attendance and presence in the designated workplace and designated work schedule.
  • The training program consists of one month of onsite training, and continued onsite/hybrid training.
  • Technical skills appropriate for the position including the ability to use Microsoft Office tools without assistance.
  • Perform job duties in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with MSF safety guidelines and ergonomic recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean and organized claims along side the claim examiner.
  • Gather wage information and enter claim center array fields.
  • Draft and send official correspondence, including letters/forms, e-mails and faxes.
  • Process payments by reviewing and paying medical bills, and calculating travel reimbursements.
  • Prepare detailed Excel documents and complete forms.
  • Correspond with injured employees, policyholders, and providers via phone, e-mail and/or fax to get information or answer questions. Including sending medical authorization packets and following up to get them back, sending and receiving claim files from other insurance companies, and communicating with a dedicated group of claim examiners about their claims on a regular basis.
  • Provide ongoing support to the claim examiners for their claims.
  • Reproduce and organize claim documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of current support processes and notify the claim examiner of any "red flags" on claims.
