Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Claims Analyst to join our Special Investigation Unit (SIU). The SIU is a specialized team dedicated to protecting the integrity of the claims process. We work to identify and prevent insurance fraud through research, data analysis, and collaboration. Our efforts help ensure honest policyholders are treated fairly while protecting the company from financial and reputational risk. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who has strong analytical skills, a passion for problem-solving, and an interest in investigative work. Team members receive training and support while developing expertise in fraud detection and claims analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, sorting/filtering, introductory data analysis skills).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Analytical thinking and curiosity with a desire to learn investigative techniques.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Ability to drive an automobile, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain a driving record consistent with company underwriting guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • A demonstrated interest in fraud prevention, data analysis, criminal justice, insurance, or investigative work is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist SIU investigators by gathering, organizing, and analyzing claim-related information.
  • Review data to identify patterns, inconsistencies, or trends that may indicate suspicious activity.
  • Collaborate with claims, underwriting, and other internal departments to support fraud detection efforts.
  • Help develop and distribute fraud awareness materials and educational resources.
  • Support team projects aimed at improving processes and strengthening fraud prevention strategies.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment in all work activities.
