About The Position

State Farm is hiring an experienced Property Field Inspection Claim Specialist to handle accident- and weather-related claims involving homeowners, commercial properties, and large losses. The specialist is a first point of contact for insureds, explaining coverage, estimating damages, and guiding customers through the claims process while providing customer-focused service. State Farm uses technology to support employees in applying judgment, empathy, and expertise.

The position is based in the Kingsport/Johnson, Tennessee territory. It is a remote-field role: the employee works from home and uses a mobile office or vehicle for in-person appointments, with opportunities for virtual work from home. Candidates should live in one of the listed ZIP codes and serve that territory. Travel outside the assigned area may occasionally be required to assist other territories. Hours may change with business needs; employees must be able to work flexible schedules and may be asked to work overtime or irregular hours.

• Valid driver’s license; driving is an essential function. A Motor Vehicle Record check is part of the pre-employment background check.
• Must successfully complete required training, applicable proficiency requirements and licensing exams, and required state licensing, Motor Vehicle Record, and background checks.
• Must be able and willing to work flexible schedules and may be asked to work overtime or irregular hours.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, or Construction Management.
• Customer service experience, including assisting customers, handling inquiries and concerns professionally, and communicating clearly and empathetically.
• Understanding of property insurance concepts, coverage fundamentals, and general claim handling practices.
• Baseline knowledge of residential and commercial building construction and building components or materials.
• Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection processes.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
• May be required to complete Rope and Harness Safety Training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential and commercial property claims.
• Collaborate with policyholders, insurance agents, and other involved parties to gather information and resolve claims efficiently.
• Provide customer service throughout the claims process and respond to inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed reports to support claims handling.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage and policy terms to determine claim validity and ensure compliance with local regulations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits, considering policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Explain coverage, estimate damages, and help insureds navigate the claims process.
• May interact with people expressing strong emotions or concerns about inspections or claim resolutions.
