About The Position

As a Claim Assistant 2, you will assist in the claim process by providing services such as communicating with providers, policyholders, and claimants for information, performing clerical tasks like handling mail, faxing, mailing letters, and building online claim records. You will also communicate with and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, provide and assist with gathering claim information as directed by the Claim Analyst, and handle telephonic intake of claim information. Additionally, you will call medical providers to obtain accurate information to assist with the claim process, perform miscellaneous clerical tasks in support of the claim process, initiate ways to improve team and work efficiency, and maintain accurate monthly miscellaneous reports as required. You will also analyze and process claim mail and on-line follow-ups for the maintenance of disability claims and issuing accurate benefit payments as needed. Furthermore, you will provide training/coaching and act as a resource for the claim assistants team, and perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of claims or customer service experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent typing skills.
  • Proficient with desktop applications such as MS Office and Internet browsers.
  • Ability to effectively navigate within numerous software and web applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use new computer applications and call center systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and understand a broad range of products and apply that knowledge by referencing appropriate tools and resources.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities
