About The Position

The Marion Civilian Police Academy is a 9-week interactive program designed to create a better understanding and build relationships between citizens and the Marion Police Department through a series of evening classes. The classes will provide an in-depth view into various aspects of law enforcement. It is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that affect law enforcement efforts in the City of Marion, and how to develop a partnership with the police department. This program allows the participant a unique "hands-on" opportunity in a variety of law enforcement tasks and responsibilities that include patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement, emergency response and community policing. In addition to the 9-week session, participants will have the opportunity to sign up for an optional shadow with 911 Dispatch as well as participate in a patrol ride-along.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.
Must be a resident of the City of Marion (preference given).
Willingness to pay a $20 program fee.
Commitment to attend all 9-week sessions.

Responsibilities
