About The Position

WSP is looking for a full-time, Early Career Civil Transportation Engineer for our Guam office. This individual will be a part of a team of talented professionals delivering transportation and infrastructure projects within the island of Guam and the Northern Marianas region. The role involves providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. This is an opportunity to join a team where you will learn from experts and contribute to important transportation projects, with tasks including research, design, concept development, and construction of transportation civil infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification (or ability to obtain one in 6 months).
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
  • Self-starter with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Desire to learn and develop skill set.
  • Passion for improving transportation systems.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, technology, and tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Uphold workplace safety and abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads).
  • Prior internship related to transportation engineering with federal projects or local government work.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support design teams in the execution of project delivery
  • Provide technical input during various stages of project, including preliminary design, final design, construction and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications
  • Perform basic design tasks and drawings using computer-aided design (CADD) to develop conceptual transportation projects in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads/OpenRoads and/or MicroStation
  • Perform standard computations and analysis
  • Discuss and propose solutions to technical issues
  • Collect data and gather information or documents
  • Bring fresh ideas and innovative ways to solve problems
  • Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members
  • Develop memorandums and other written technical documents
  • Maintain positive team relationships and contribute to a collaborative culture
  • Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines (i.e. drainage, structures) as required
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
