About The Position

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Civil Superintendent in Springfield, VA to join our team. This role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising onsite production functions to ensure the project stays on schedule, within budget, and meets all engineering, material, and equipment requirements. The Civil Superintendent will provide technical assistance, interpret drawings, recommend construction methods, and assist project management with developing project procedures and standards. A key part of this role is ensuring all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety programs, work rules, and environmental regulations, documenting and addressing any violations. The position also requires regular engagement with Herzog’s culture and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years in civil construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of civil construction (technology, equipment, methods); engineering, cost control schedules and safety required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

  • Construction Management/Civil Engineering degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate frequently with project team, client representatives, utility companies, and subcontractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, forecast and assume responsibility for onsite production functions including maintaining schedule, verification of compliance, engineering, budget, equipment needs, material and equipment control.
  • Provide technical assistance through interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment as required.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, specifications and standards.
  • Coordinates project close out activities in line with project standards and Owner checklist requirements.
  • Supervise and ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, environmental compliance, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
