About The Position

Responsible for leading structural design teams and making deliverables for engineering and construction projects. This role involves performing civil/structural engineering deliverables, including the design and analysis of structural steel and foundations in the heavy industrial sector. The engineer will advise on design principles and standards, develop and revise engineering design procedures and technical specifications, and develop sketches and coordinate the completion of associated 3D models with the design team. Key responsibilities include leading design reviews and lessons learned sessions, providing cost estimating support for civil/structural proposals, and performing multiple projects continuously. The role also entails coordinating design operations, organizing staff, allocating, prioritizing, and reviewing the work of subordinates, and providing technical advice and instruction. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical support on construction or operating sites as needed, offer technical oversight, mentorship, and peer review within the Design team, and monitor and report weekly on the status of current civil/structural design projects. Assistance in the recruitment and selection of structural design team staff is also part of the role, along with effectively communicating and projecting the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap. Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor will be performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil or structural engineering with experience in civil/structural design for heavy industry.
  • Display a good working knowledge of industry standard design practices, good mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of engineering.
  • Understanding of design code standards and specifications (ASME, ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC).
  • Ability to organize, allocate, prioritize, review, instruct and train work of subordinates.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.
  • Ability to attain and promote good customer relationships (both internal and external).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Proficient in the use of structural design and analysis (STAAD, or similar).
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word with intermediate skills in Excel and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer License is preferred.
