About The Position
Kent is looking for a Civil Structural Engineer intern to be based in Deer Park, TX. A Structural Engineering Intern supports licensed engineers in the analysis, design, and documentation of structural systems for buildings, bridges, and industrial projects.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s level degree in Civil, Structural, Chemical, Mechanical or related disciplines.
- Overall GPA 3.0 or above.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employment visa sponsorship.
- Oral and written communication skills (including technical writing).
- Basic knowledge of engineering concepts and ability to apply knowledge to complex problems.
- Computer skills and application of software programs.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
- Ability to develop effective planning, project, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic structural calculations for gravity and lateral systems.
- Provide administrative assistance as required.
- Infrequent field work such as assisting engineers with the gathering of as-built building information.
- Create 3D models and structural details using Building Information Modeling software.
- Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and project documentation.
- Research and apply building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ACI).
