About The Position

Stantec’s multi-disciplinary office in Mt Laurel, NJ has an opportunity for a Civil Site Designer to join our Community Development team. We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development/community development. This position will involve significant projects, interacting with clients and government agencies and effectively working with a team. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects for clients within the private and municipal (local, state and federal) sectors. Typical projects involve site/civil design for residential, commercial and industrial site development, as well as capital improvement/utility infrastructure projects. Requirements

  • Self-starter with diligent work ethic and strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Ability to visualize three-dimensional concepts and layouts from diagrams or drawings
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and some previous experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, StormCAD, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited school.
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant design experience preferred.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred/required within the first two years of employment.
  • Prior experience with a Land Development Engineering firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.
  • Site/civil plan preparation including grading design, water and sewer infrastructure design, roadway design
  • Design of storm water management systems, and erosion and sediment control plans.
  • Preparation of survey plans including topographic base plan preparation.
  • Working on design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents or construction plans.
  • Ordinance/code and deed research, cost estimation, and permitting applications.
  • Ready to step in and assist with any of design team tasks in order to complete project on time and with quality design.
