About The Position

Atwell, LLC is seeking a Civil Public Works Inspector - EIT to oversee municipal utility, road, and sidewalk projects. This role involves collaborating with Project Managers, local agencies/owners, and contractors to ensure projects comply with approved plans, specifications, and jurisdictional standards. The inspector will be responsible for comprehensive inspection, detailed documentation, contract management, resource tracking for force account activities, change order review, material verification, proactive conflict resolution, safety advocacy, testing coordination, community engagement, maintaining as-built records, communicating progress and issues to the owner, and assisting with schedule management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a four-year college or university.
  • Ability to work hours dictated by the Contractors schedule on short notice.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

  • 1-4 years of experience in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly inspect all facets of municipal utility, road, and sidewalk projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records by documenting the Contractor's work through daily inspection reports and project photographs.
  • Keep an accurate log of contract days used and remaining throughout the project, and verify daily quantities of work, providing weekly quantity reports to the Owner.
  • Maintain precise records of personnel, equipment, and materials used in force account activities.
  • Review change order requests.
  • Verify that materials delivered to the job site match the approved submittals.
  • Conduct pre-project walks to identify potential unforeseen conflicts, addressing them proactively.
  • Advise the Contractor of any insufficient traffic control measures or unsafe work conditions.
  • Coordinate scheduling for soils, asphalt, and concrete testing as required.
  • Collaborate with local residents to mitigate the impact of construction on their daily lives.
  • Maintain accurate as-built record drawings for the project.
  • Keep the Owner informed about work progress and field issues as they arise.
  • Work closely with the Contractor to provide updated schedules to the Owner as needed.
