About The Position

Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. seeks a Civil Project Engineer in Chicago, IL. Duties: Perform engineering design to client and regulatory requirements. Prepare project documents plans and reports utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting. Work directly with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) as part of the Chicago Works Program. Assist CDOT with the oversight of the design and engineering of multiple, city-wide, infrastructure improvements to various infrastructure projects. This work involves project coordination, programming estimates and budgets, design support and reviews, and coordination for the Arterial Street Resurfacing program and other projects. These projects typically involve the development of calculations, detailed construction plans and specifications for projects involving drainage, grading, pavement, utilities, maintenance of traffic, structures, and traffic signals. Clients frequently include the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, Cook County Highway Department, and the City of Chicago. Software used typically includes AutoCAD/Civil 3D/XPSWMM, MicroStation/Open Roads, Synchro, ArcGIS, and the Microsoft Office Suite. Perform engineering design to client and regulatory requirements. Prepare project documents plans and reports utilizing Computer Aided Design and Drafting. Data entry into various platforms. Organize and maintain project files. Perform calculations and analysis. Prepare design calculations using appropriate tools and/or software. Prepare cost estimates and analyze material costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
  • Any amount of experience as a Civil Engineer or in a related role.
  • ArcGIS software experience.
  • AutoCAD software experience.
  • Synchro software experience.
  • ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems & Autonomous Vehicles) experience.
  • Traffic Engineering and MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) experience.
  • Crash Analyses & Reports experience.
  • Must also have authority to work permanently in the U.S.
