In this role, you’ll support the planning, design, and delivery of municipal civil engineering projects, as well as contribute to a variety of water resources initiatives that positively impact the communities we serve. As a Project Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop infrastructure solutions, apply sound engineering principles, and contribute to projects that enhance public safety, environmental resilience, and community well-being.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina
  • 4+ years' progressive experience in the civil engineering field, including experience working with municipal infrastructure preferred
  • Experience in plan and specification development with construction contract administration
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency
  • Knowledge of NCDOT requirements
  • Possess a valid drivers license as travel to various facilities and job sites may be required
  • Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management planning, scheduling and performance of multiple engineering projects and personnel, both design and construction
  • Work closely with Project Managers in understanding client needs and expectations
  • Review and/or prepare preliminary reports and feasibility studies
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications and reports
  • Familiar with local permitting requirements such as NCDOT, NCDEQ, USACE, and other applicable local permitting regulations
  • Provides technical advice regarding design, construction or modification and repairs to clients, contractors and other staff members
  • May assist with business development activities (client needs, research, proposals, etc.)
  • Coordinate construction administration and monitor documentation requirements with field staff
