About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Charlottesville, VA office location. This role involves completing operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis. It also includes bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation. The engineer will perform calculations, conduct research, write summary reports, assist in preparing planning schedules and cost estimates, and perform field observations and data collection. Communication with clients and internal teams, as well as presenting results to the public, are key aspects of the position.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
• Between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning
• Synchro/SIDRA/HCS proficiency is essential
• Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
• Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred
• Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred
• Experience working with DOT and/or localities
• PE/EIT preferred

• Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing
• Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience

Responsibilities

• Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis
• Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
• Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work
• Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates
• Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team
• Communicate results/recommendations to the general public
