About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Raleigh, NC office location. This role involves completing operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis. It also includes bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation. The engineer will perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills, utilize computers for problem-solving, conduct research, and write objective summary reports. Responsibilities also include assisting in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates, performing field observations, inspections, and data collection, communicating with client staff and internal design teams, and presenting results/recommendations to the public.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning
  • Synchro/SIDRA/HCS proficiency is essential
  • Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred
  • Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred
  • Experience working with DOT and/or localities
  • PE/EIT preferred
