About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Raleigh, NC office location. This role involves completing operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis. It also includes bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation. The engineer will perform calculations, conduct research, write summary reports, assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates, and complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties. Communication with client staff, internal design teams, and the general public regarding results and recommendations is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning
  • Synchro/SIDRA/HCS proficiency is essential
  • Experience working with DOT and/or localities
  • PE/EIT preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred
  • Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis
  • Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
  • Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates
  • Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team
  • Communicate results/recommendations to the general public
