About The Position

Parsons Corporation has a career opportunity for an amazingly talented Construction Inspector to join our team! In this role, you will support the construction and inspection of large-diameter transmission pipelines, utility infrastructure, and associated civil works on the Infrastructure Pipeline Projects and other major infrastructure improvements throughout Southern Nevada.

Requirements

Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or high school diploma/equivalent with relevant construction inspection experience.
5+ years of construction inspection experience on pipeline, utility, civil infrastructure, transportation, or major public works projects.
Experience inspecting large-diameter underground utilities, transmission pipelines, excavation and trenching operations, reinforced concrete structures, and related civil infrastructure.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, testing requirements, and construction schedules.
Familiarity with civil and structural testing requirements including soils, concrete, coatings, and materials testing.
Ability to prepare written inspection reports, daily diaries, quantity calculations, and supporting project documentation.
Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, construction management software, and electronic documentation systems.
Ability to review progress payment applications and extra work documentation.
Ability to recognize hazardous work conditions and take appropriate action.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in active construction environments, including excavation areas, elevated work locations, and confined spaces when required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous inspection experience on large-diameter water transmission pipelines or major utility infrastructure projects.
ICC, NICET, AWS CWI, ACI, or other industry-recognized inspection certifications.
Experience with hydrostatic testing, pipeline commissioning, coatings inspection, and weld inspection activities.
Knowledge of public works construction contracts and documentation requirements.
OSHA 10-Hour certification required; OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred.
Experience serving as a Lead Inspector or providing technical oversight to inspection staff.

Responsibilities

Conduct inspections and tests to verify construction activities comply with contract documents, approved submittals, specifications, permits, and applicable codes and standards.
Inspect excavation, trenching, shoring, dewatering, pipeline installation, bedding, embedment, backfill, and restoration operations.
Perform and witness civil and structural testing activities including soil compaction, moisture-density testing, aggregate gradation, concrete slump, air entrainment, compression testing, bolt torque verification, line and grade surveys, and concrete coring.
Conduct surveillance of underground pipeline construction to verify trench conditions, bedding, alignment, grade, cover requirements, and installation quality.
Inspect coatings, linings, corrosion protection systems, painting, insulation systems, and associated testing to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Verify reinforcing steel placement, formwork, embedded components, and concrete placement activities.
Inspect and monitor piling installation to ensure proper location, depth, and bearing capacity.
Validate pipeline systems through hydraulic, hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak, and other pressure testing activities.
Review piping installation and appurtenance construction and verify compliance with applicable plans, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
Verify contractor quality control documentation, material certifications, mill test reports, inspection records, and testing results.
Maintain detailed project records including daily reports, photographs, quantity tracking, test reports, redline drawings, and project diaries.
Review installed quantities for progress payment applications, force account work, and change order documentation.
Coordinate with contractors, testing laboratories, surveyors, utility owners, and project stakeholders to facilitate construction activities and resolve field issues.
Document nonconforming work and participate in determining appropriate corrective actions and resolutions.
Review and recommend job safety practices and participate in safety reporting activities.
Prepare quality assurance and quality control reports and recommend improvements to inspection procedures.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to lower-level inspectors as needed.
May serve as Lead Inspector on assigned segments of the project.
Perform work safely and remain cognizant of worker and public safety at all times.
