About The Position

The Civil Designer plays a critical role in the planning, design, and development of site plans for various civil engineering projects. This position is responsible for creating detailed and accurate designs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations, ensuring the safety, functionality, and sustainability of public and private developments. The designer collaborates closely with engineers, planners, and clients to translate conceptual ideas into technical drawings and specifications that guide construction and development. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of civil engineering principles are essential to produce plans that meet project requirements and community standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent civil design software.
  • Strong technical drawing and drafting skills with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects such as roads, stormwater systems, and public utilities.
  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or similar credential.
  • Experience with GIS software and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of municipal infrastructure design standards and site planning principles.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to civil engineering and land development.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed civil municipal and site plans including grading, drainage, utility layouts, roadways, and stormwater management systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners, and clients to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and standards at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using Civil3D.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to facilitate plan approvals and address any compliance issues.
  • Maintain project schedules and documentation to ensure timely delivery of design packages.
