About The Position

This role involves operating heavy equipment on industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, the ability to follow instructions, and perform quality work according to project specifications. The operator will be responsible for their tools and materials at the end of each shift and must be a team player. Safety is a core value, and all employees are expected to comply with safety policies and regulations, and to address unsafe practices. Responsibilities include mobilizing and demobilizing equipment, ensuring proper maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and tools, and performing other duties as assigned by management. This role may also serve as a backup to other positions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience excavating near underground utilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team.
  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Practice safety rules.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
  • Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
  • Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Stop and correct unsafe work practices and refuse to work in an unsafe situation.
  • Mobilize equipment, including loading, unloading, securing, set up and tear down.
  • Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and tools are properly accounted for, used for correct purpose and are maintained.
  • Serve as backup to other positions at the direction of management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds daily, seldom over 50 pounds.
  • Grasp and manipulate various hand tools daily.
  • Stand for more than two hours at a time, as well twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and stooping regularly.
  • Identify/distinguish colors and use manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Communicate orally and be able to hear and understand.
  • Work and operate motorized equipment.
  • Safely perform procedures where carelessness could result in injury.
  • Work in uncomfortable environments due to drafts, noise, temperature variation or similar discomforts.
  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy, and use a keyboard to enter and transform words or data.
  • Comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
  • Work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
  • Be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
