Civil / Landscaping Technician I
About The Position
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Civil / Landscaping Technician I to join our growing team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in civil construction, landscaping, and site development. The Civil / Landscaping Technician I will assist with a variety of outdoor construction and landscaping activities, helping prepare, maintain, and restore project sites while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, is eager to learn new skills, and takes pride in producing quality work. Previous experience is helpful but not required—we are willing to train the right individual.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and small power equipment.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, digging, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned job sites.
- Basic communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Nice To Haves
- Previous landscaping, construction, or outdoor labor experience is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to learn civil construction and landscaping techniques.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
- Basic computer or smartphone skills for timekeeping and work documentation are a plus.
- Willing to work in the New Jersey and New York Metro Area.
Responsibilities
- Assist with site preparation, grading, and cleanup activities.
- Perform landscaping tasks including planting, mulching, sod installation, irrigation support, and general grounds maintenance.
- Operate hand tools and small power equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with excavation support, trenching, and installation of underground utilities or site improvements.
- Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Install and maintain erosion control measures and restore disturbed work areas.
- Follow project plans, supervisor instructions, and company quality standards.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Complete daily work reports and other required documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
