About The Position

OCL Group Inc. is a 100% Canadian owned and operated, employee-owned, fully integrated general contractor with design-build solutions across Western Canada. We are currently recruiting for experienced, reliable, and hard-working Skilled Civil Labourers to join our team for a project in Fort McMurray, AB. Ideal candidates demonstrate a readiness to work, take pride in their contributions, and are committed to maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Skilled Labourer in industrial construction environments
  • Experience digging trenches, operating ground tools like packers, pumps, rakes and shovels
  • Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and hazard awareness
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual labour (lifting up to 50lbs, bending, standing and working in various weather conditions)
  • Ensure a safe team environment. Strong teamwork skills with a positive and reliable work ethic
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to follow and understand instructions given.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Must have the following safety tickets: WHMIS 2015, CSTS 2020 (or equivalent)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks in line with OCL and industry standards, procedures and practices
  • Assist skilled trades as required
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safety and effectively
  • Perform spotting and flagging duties when required
  • Read and understand site-specific instructions prior to each shift
  • Site cleaning and preparation
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area / job site
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned
