About The Position

Perform and assist on a full range of civil tasks with increasing independence. Support equipment maintenance, set up grade lasers and read elevations, and work safely within civil/underground processes and OSHA requirements. Contribute accurate, efficient work while supporting crew productivity and documentation.

Requirements

12–24 months civil field experience with demonstrated reliability across basic tasks and grade/laser setup.
Ability to assist with equipment maintenance (pre/post-trip, greasing/fueling, minor service tasks).
Understands civil/underground process steps and applies OSHA/site safety requirements during work.
Able to read elevation grades and set up grade lasers; protects and verifies stakes/marks.
OSHA 10, First Aid, Flagger certification; additional OSHA coursework a plus.
Valid driver’s license.
Construction domain: Material handling; safe hand/power tool use; JSAs; trenching and traffic control; erosion control; equipment maintenance assistance (pre/post-trip, preventive tasks); reading grades/elevations; laser setup; basic blueprint reading; measurement/layout; earthworks and compaction awareness.
Information governance: Procore inputs for daily documentation; adherence to OSHA/site requirements; clear communication of risks.
Productivity tools: Mobile field apps; radios/hand signals; basic rigging for small items; laser/grade tools.

Responsibilities

Assisting and performing a broad range of tasks to keep work fronts moving (staging materials, tool setup, cleanup).
Assisting with equipment maintenance (pre/post-trip checks, greasing/fueling, reporting issues).
Reading elevation grades and setting up grade lasers; protecting stakes and verifying marks before work.
Applying basic understanding of civil/underground processes and safety regulations during task execution.
Following OSHA requirements and site procedures; supports flagging/traffic control and trenching practices.
Providing inputs (photos/notes/quantities) to foreman in Procore as directed.
Supports Foreman/skilled trades with task sequencing, access, and material flow.
Supports Survey/layout with stake protection and clarifying grade/elevation questions.
Supports Mechanics/lead operators with maintenance scheduling and minor service tasks.
Recommends requests for materials/tools/permits needed to execute tasks safely and on time.
Recommends notes on grade conflicts, soft ground, or utilities impacting planned work.
Recommends opportunities to improve housekeeping, staging, or maintenance readiness to reduce downtime.
Escalates equipment issues beyond minor maintenance; fluid leaks or defects.
Escalates unclear grade instructions, disturbed stakes, or tolerance risks.
Escalates trench stability or traffic conflicts creating unsafe conditions.
