Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional designation required
- Minimum of 5+ years of US-based experience in highway and roadway civil design engineering for federal and state projects
- Minimum of one year of project engineering experience leading small teams and project phases
- Working knowledge of federal and state roadway regulations and processes
- Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD and Bentley
- Strong communicator both verbal and written
- A valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
Nice To Haves
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or willing to obtain after-hire
Responsibilities
- Work with clients to understand their vision and scope of the project.
- Analyze survey data, traffic patterns, and other relevant data to optimize road design and ensure functionality and safety.
- Guide design and entry level engineers on project designs, drafting plans, drawings, and modeling according to project specifications.
- Lead project tasks and/or project phases.
- Become the technical lead and engineer of record for larger project areas.
- Utilize design software to support project designs, drafting plans, drawings, and modeling according to project specifications.
- Develop detailed plans for new roads, highways, and related infrastructure.
- Involved in the improvement of existing road infrastructure, ensuring its continued safety and efficiency.
- Ensure that engineering designs comply with relevant DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Draft technical writing pieces such as Requests for Proposals, report writing, project specifications, and memorandums.
- Provide construction administration services during the construction phase of the project.
