About The Position

The Civil Estimating role will demonstrate a solid understanding of estimating best practices and practical experience in water and wastewater design and construction. The role will support the maintenance and utilization of estimating databases and contribute to estimate planning and execution for moderately complex projects. The role will perform detailed quantity takeoff development and analyze delivery resource and productivity factors under established guidelines to support accurate and reliable cost estimates. The role will also consider geographical and contingency factors to provide reliable and precise estimates.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in estimating or related field.
  • Basic experience in detailing a work breakdown structure and performing construction schedules in MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Field experience as a Construction Manager, Field Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or Resident Project Representative either for an engineering or contracting firm.
  • Experience in developing software-based construction schedules.
  • Familiarity with estimating best practices and related software applications.
  • Understanding of water/ww design and construction methodologies.
  • Competency in quantity takeoff development and estimate planning and process.
  • Understanding of geographical and contingency factors that can impact estimates.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal for communicating with internal and external clients.
  • Presentation skills to describe estimates and calculations to internal and external clients.
  • Investigative abilities to obtain data sets and information required for estimates.
  • Familiarity developing work breakdown structures as applies to estimating and construction schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoff procedures in alignment with estimating best practices.
  • Utilize estimating software applications to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support the estimate planning and process, adapting to unique project circumstances and requirements.
  • Develop understanding of geographical and contingency factors, incorporating them in estimates.
  • Understand and address the delivery resource and productivity factors within the job estimate.
  • Stay updated with knowledge regarding water/ww design and construction.
  • Help manage and maintain estimating databases, ensuring the accuracy and relevancy of the information.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
