About The Position

The Civil Estimator will support the development of competitive, accurate bids for large-scale power projects. This role will lead civil quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor and supplier outreach, and risk identification while partnering with engineering, procurement, and operations teams.

Requirements

• Undergraduate civil engineering, construction management or related degree, or equivalent experience in a construction-related position
• 1-3 years of related professional experience in the construction field, civil preferred
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Excel
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
• Demonstrated ownership, dependability, and commitment to producing accurate work under bid deadlines
• Ability to work independently as well aspart of a team
• Ability to travel as required for site visits
• Regular, reliable attendance
• Work productively and meet deadlines timely
• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
• May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

• Use Trimble and other software to prepare earthwork volumes and perform takeoffs
• Enter quantities and costs into InEight Estimate and maintain throughout the estimate

Responsibilities

• Develop quantities and costs for large scale earthwork operations on power projects
• Prepare review documents and defend estimate development in management reviews
• Review historical production rates, lessons learned, and cost data to improve estimate accuracy
• Complete an RFP and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and incorporating solutions into the estimate basis
• Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
• Use Trimble and other software to prepare earthwork volumes and perform takeoffs
• Enter quantities and costs into InEight Estimate and maintain throughout the estimate
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors to get quotes and buyout costs incorporated into the civil estimate
