About The Position

R.R. Cassidy is searching for an Estimator in Beaumont, TX. Who will be responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and timely cost estimates for electrical utility and solar projects. This role involves quantity take-offs, gathering supplier and subcontractor pricing, and assisting in bid preparation. The Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure estimates are complete, competitive, and aligned with project requirements. This is NOT a remote position; you will be required to work at our office in Beaumont, TX, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of estimating experience in electrical utility construction, electrical contracting, or solar EPC.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and deliver competitive bids on projects ranging from $50K to $10M+.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Bluebeam Revu/CAD.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, NEC code, and/or solar PV installation principles.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to safety in all work activities.
  • Must be able to report to work at the Beaumont office Monday - Friday 7AM - 5PM

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage the full estimating lifecycle for electrical utility and solar projects from RFP through bid submission.
  • Perform and review material takeoffs and quantity calculations from engineering drawings.
  • Develop detailed, accurate cost models including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs using in house estimating software.
  • Lead pre-bid site walkthroughs and meetings; evaluate site conditions and communicate scope risks to management.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes; identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Prepare complete bid packages including cover letters, scope narratives, exclusions/clarifications, and alternates.
  • Conduct post-bid analysis and win/loss reviews to continuously improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Maintain and continuously improve internal price books, historical cost databases, and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with project management and field operations during bid-to-build handoffs to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Stay current on NEC code changes, material pricing trends (wire, conduit, racking, panels, inverters), and industry developments.
