About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering in Austin, TX. This role involves performing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for stormwater, floodplain, and drainage studies using industry-standard modeling tools. The engineer will create and evaluate engineering designs for stormwater infrastructure, including detention/retention ponds, channels, culverts, storm drains, and drainage improvements in compliance with local and state criteria. Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, engineering calculations, and design documentation for permitting and agency submittals, providing integrated water resources solutions, coordinating with diverse teams and stakeholders, supporting project delivery through QA/QC and engineering oversight, performing field work, summarizing work products, and publicly presenting technical data. Up to 50% domestic travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study and 1 year of experience as Project Engineer, Civil Engineer, or in a related occupation.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study and 0 years of experience.
  • Obtained or ability to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience in Hydrology and hydraulics
  • Experience in Stormwater management
  • Experience in Green infrastructure and low-impact development
  • Experience in Water quality modeling and monitoring
  • Experience in Civil Infrastructure Design
  • Experience with HEC-RAS
  • Experience with HY-8
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Experience with QGIS
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for stormwater, floodplain, and drainage studies using industry-standard modeling tools
  • Create and evaluate engineering designs for stormwater infrastructure, including detention/retention ponds, channels, culverts, storm drains, and drainage improvements in compliance with local and state criteria
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, and design documentation to support permitting, agency submittals, and project decision-making, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Provide integrated water resources solutions and address design restrictions
  • Coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders: roadway engineers, planners, environmental teams, municipalities and clients
  • Support project delivery through QA/QC and engineering oversight by reviewing model results, design plans, cost estimates and construction documentation to ensure consistent, reliable engineering outputs
  • Perform field work in accordance with approved Safety Plans
  • Summarize work products in technical reports and memorandums
  • Publicly present technical data
