About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering IV in Tampa, FL. This role involves performing site reviews and studies, developing designs and specifications for water resource projects, and assisting in the preparation of construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The position also includes developing grading plans for wetland and hydrologic restoration projects, preparing and submitting permit applications to the FDEP and water management districts, and designing stormwater ponds, open channels, and closed underground piped storm sewers. Responsibilities extend to performing bridge scour analysis, designing erosion and sediment control best management practices (BMPs), and developing Stormwater Pollution Plans (SWPPPs). The role requires performing specific and limited portions of broader assignments, preparing technical reports, assisting with master planning, and developing computer models for watersheds using various software. Additionally, the position involves submitting technical papers, participating in professional societies, gathering engineering data, working on detailed assignments, proposing solutions to new problems, identifying discrepancies, and providing guidance to entry-level engineers. Work is performed under moderate supervision, in accordance with budget and schedule.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in a civil engineering-related occupation
  • Experience in StormWise
  • Experience in HEC-RAS
  • Experience in EPA SWMM
  • Experience in XP-SWMM
  • Experience in MIKE SHE and MIKE+
  • Experience in ArcGIS Desktop
  • Experience in ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience in Autodesk Applications, including Civil 3D and Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA)
  • Experience in Python
  • Ability to serve as engineer of record and sign and seal drawings
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform site reviews and studies
  • Develop designs and specifications for water resource projects
  • Assist in the preparation of construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Develop grading plans for wetland and hydrologic restoration projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to the FDEP and five water management districts in the State of Florida
  • Design stormwater ponds, open channels, and closed underground piped storm sewers in accordance with regulatory criteria
  • Perform bridge scour analysis and the design of countermeasures at bridges to minimize scour
  • Design erosion and sediment control best management practices (BMPs) and develop Stormwater Pollution Plans (SWPPPs) for construction sites in accordance with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulated by the FDEP
  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced Engineer
  • Prepare thorough technical reports documenting engineering design and drainage analyses
  • Assist with master planning
  • Develop computer models for large watersheds as well as smaller drainage areas associated with design projects on StormWise, MIKE SHE / MIKE HYDRO, HEC-RAS and SWMM
  • Submit technical papers to conferences and journals
  • Participate in professional societies relevant to the industry
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
  • Propose approach to solve new problems encountered
  • Identify discrepancies in results
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision
