About The Position

Hanson is seeking Civil Engineering interns for its Railway Engineering discipline. This role involves planning, designing, and preparing construction documents for rail clients. The work includes designing rail alignments, grading, drainage, utilities, pavement markings, construction details, erosion control, and construction staging. Interns will utilize software like MicroStation OpenRoads and potentially AutoCAD with Civil3D. The discipline also supports construction management in the field. Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program or a relevant field of study.
Must have completed their sophomore year by the time of the internship and be enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads
Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D

Responsibilities

Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates
Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering or environmental reports and studies
Performing and/or reviewing calculations or reports
Utilizing engineering software packages such as MicroStation
Conducting field investigations to gather information
Documenting and/or observing construction operations
Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; attending meetings; and maintaining records.
Monitoring contractor activities
Preparing reports
Assisting with reviewing contractor invoices
