About The Position

Stantec is now accepting applications for Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns within our Community Development Group in Okemos, Michigan. As an intern, you will work with a high-quality team of engineering professionals and gain exposure to land development and transportation projects that include development of engineering plans sets, public and private roadway design, park and recreation design, multi-use trail and pathway design, traffic engineering and analysis, landscape architecture, water and wastewater utility design, and storm water modeling and management design. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree Civil Engineering bachelor’s degree program.
  • Basic understanding of basic AutoCAD Civil 3D, highly preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Forma (Formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • Strong interpersonal, virtual, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following is desired: planning, design, construction, architecture, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental, surveying and construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Ask as many questions as possible and be a sponge soaking up all the knowledge available.
  • Complete civil engineering plans, reports, and specifications and designs in a dynamic and high pace environment.
  • Accompany Stantec professional staff during onsite construction inspections for compliance with the engineering design and stormwater quality requirements.
  • Accompany Stantec professional staff to public and client meetings as needed basis.
  • Assist with procuring permits and approvals from city, county, or state agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of construction documents.
