About The Position

GHD’s US West DDO team is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern to support roadway, active transportation, and infrastructure projects from concept through final design. The role is based in San Luis Obispo, California, and supports civil engineering work for internal and external clients. Under close supervision, the intern applies foundational and theoretical knowledge from degree-level studies or equivalent to tasks of limited scope and complexity, follows established standards and processes, and builds practical experience in a consulting environment.

The hybrid work model includes in-office collaboration, with the posting stating that the intern will join the Roseville office three days per week. The position offers an hourly salary range of $26.00–$28.00.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of contract management tasks.
• Collect data from standard sources and input it into standard formats to produce accurate reports for others.
• Provide technical support for inspections of engineering work and the integrity of existing installations or structures, including remedial work, in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions under supervision and contribute feedback to design validation.
• Follow health, safety, and environment policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks and safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.
• Support others by implementing improvements and carrying out simple change management tasks.
• Carry out simple knowledge management tasks by following established procedures.
• Develop and maintain process or technical skills through assessment and development planning, formal and informal training, and coaching.
• Support product development and engineering activities, including analyzing client situations or interpreting data.
