About The Position

GHD’s US West DDO team is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer Intern to join its team in San Luis Obispo, California. The intern will apply foundational and theoretical knowledge from degree-level studies, or equivalent, to support tasks of limited scope and complexity under close supervision. The role supports civil engineering work for internal and external clients and contributes to project outcomes by following established standards and processes. It is designed to build practical experience and understanding of engineering practices in a consulting environment.

The position supports roadway, active transportation, and infrastructure projects from concept through final design. GHD describes its work model as hybrid, combining in-office collaboration with flexibility, and states that the intern will join the Roseville office three days per week.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of contract management tasks.
• Collect data from standard sources, enter it into standard formats, and produce accurate reports for others.
• Provide technical support for inspections of engineering work quality and the integrity of existing installations or structures, including remedial works, in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions under supervision, provide feedback, and contribute to design validation.
• Follow health, safety, and environment policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks and safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.
• Support others by implementing improvements and carrying out simple change management tasks.
• Carry out simple knowledge management tasks by following established procedures.
• Build and maintain process or technical skills through assessment and development planning, formal and informal training, and coaching.
• Support product and solution development by carrying out engineering activities such as analyzing client situations or interpreting data.
