About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 7-8, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Philadelphia office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is looking for a Civil Engineering Intern interested in joining a premier engineering company with potential to gain experience on a variety of challenging transportation and infrastructure projects that include work within the highway, bridge, and mass transit industries. Clients include the City of Philadelphia and DelDOT statewide pavement rehab program, supporting clients such as PennDOT, DelDOT, Amtrak, the City of Philadelphia and SEPTA. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. Requirements

Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and must have completed at least one year of study.
Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Responsibilities

Assisting in the development of roadway alignments, traffic control plans, right-of-way determination, utility coordination utilizing OpenRoads Designer, Microstation, AutoCAD and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications and MS Office applications.
Assisting with preliminary to final design calculations and plan development, reviewing of field information, possible field inspection of existing facilities and other work consistent with the duties of an entry level engineer.
General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and deliveries.
Apply technical training to perform basic calculations.
Work well in a team setting.
Be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.
